History of DVD is not as old as the history of the automobile. But similar to the automobile industry, the DVD is backed by big names. It all started way back in the early 90s when, independently, research was being carried out for two standards for high density optical storage. First was the MultiMedia Compact Disc on which Philips and Sony were working. The other was the Super Density Disc which claimed backing by Pioneer, Hitachi, Thomson, Toshiba, Time-Warner, JVC, Matsushita Electric, and Mitsubishi Electric. Efforts were made by IBM to stop a format war, which helped both researches to converge on one point – the DVD. The DVD specification Version 1.0 was first announced in 1995 and was later finalized in September 1996.

It was the time of creation of the DVD. Such big names gave confidence to the end users. It immensely helped them to adopt this new format. So fast was the conversion that in a few years, the rental of VHS was surpassed by DVD. Many big stores stopped offering VHS altogether in favor of the still rising DVD format.

Now when this technology has matured a bit, another big name is supporting it, but in a different style. DVDXCOPY is a website offering some of the best dvd copying software. It has something for everyone. If you want to copy dvd movies, or if you just want to save your important data by taking dvd backup of your work, DVDXCOPY has it all. It has one of the best collections of reliable DVd burning software.
